Incogni is an automated personal-data removal service built by Surfshark, the company behind the Surfshark VPN. It sends opt-out and deletion requests to data brokers and people-search sites on your behalf, then keeps repeating them so your information does not reappear.
How a removal cycle runs
You sign up and authorise Incogni to act for you. It checks where your information appears across more than 420 people-search sites and data-broker databases and sends legally framed requests asking for removal. Guides describe follow-ups roughly every 60 days for public brokers and every 90 days for private ones, continuing until a broker confirms it has suppressed your records. A dashboard shows request status.
Why repeat requests are needed
Data brokers collect from public records, apps and websites as a core part of their business, so a deleted profile can be rebuilt from new source data. Repeating requests is how a service like this tries to keep records off the lists.
What it cannot do
- It cannot remove information from social networks, news articles or government records.
- It covers the brokers on its own list, not every company that holds data about you.
- Removal depends on each broker honouring the request.
Doing it yourself
Many brokers publish free opt-out forms. Doing it manually costs no money but takes a great deal of time, which is the trade a paid service sells.
What we could not verify
We did not subscribe, so we cannot confirm removal rates. Broker counts and timing come from Surfshark’s own pages and independent explainers.
