Quince is a San Francisco e-commerce company founded in 2018 that sells apparel, accessories, jewellery, homeware and beauty products made by partner factories and shipped directly to customers. It is privately owned by founders Sid Gupta, Sourabh Mahajan and Zunu Mittal.
What “factory direct” means
Quince describes a manufacturer-to-consumer model. Products are made in the same kinds of factories that supply premium brands, then sold online without wholesalers or store rent in between. Profiles name Mongolia for cashmere, Portugal for leather goods and Italy for bedding as examples of where goods are made.
Launch and growth
Sid Gupta started Quince in 2018 with a small range of silk and cashmere basics before adding homeware, travel goods, leather and beauty. A 2026 ownership profile reports revenue above US$1 billion in 2025 and a US$500 million Series E round in March 2026 led by Iconiq Capital at a US$10.1 billion valuation. Those numbers come from a third-party company profile and press coverage, not an audited filing, so treat them as reported rather than confirmed.
Using it as a shopper
- Price comparisons are only fair against items of the same fibre, weight and finish.
- Check the return window and who pays return shipping on the listing.
- Read the material descriptions; cashmere listings state the grade and ply.
Sustainability claims
Quince says it works with certified ethical manufacturers. Independent coverage has asked how well the claims hold up, so ask for certification names where a certification matters to you.
What we could not verify
We did not buy from Quince or inspect the factories. Valuation and revenue are reported by third parties.
