Lagos Life is the Nigerian-made browser game that turns ordinary life in Lagos into a multiplayer simulation. You create a character, look for work, earn and spend virtual naira, find accommodation, move around the city and interact with other players. The twist is that rent, transport, money problems and even power interruptions feel familiar to anyone who knows Nigeria.
The game launched on 1 October 2026, Nigeria’s Independence Day. Within days it had become a major conversation on Nigerian social media. Its creator, Shalom Rayhamen, and Nigerian technology outlets have reported millions of players, although the running totals are company-reported rather than independently audited. TheCable reported on 9 October that the company behind the game had also raised $500,000 at a $10 million valuation.
This guide explains the actual game, where to find it, what happens after signing up and which money claims should not be taken literally. We reviewed the game’s published policies and current reporting; we have not represented this as a logged-in gameplay test.

What is the official Lagos Life game link?
Open https://lagoslife.app/ in your usual browser. The official site’s Terms and Disclaimer also identify the earlier lagoslife.eliysites.com address as part of the original game’s services. Search results now contain many similarly named fan guides and games, so the address matters.
You should not need a stranger’s APK file, Telegram download or WhatsApp activation message to access the browser game. If a website asks for a game password but its address is unrelated to the official site, leave it. A game becoming viral is an opportunity for impersonators too.
How do you play Lagos Life?
- Open the official site. Use Safari, Chrome or another current browser on a phone or computer.
- Create your account and character. Pick a name and follow the current onboarding prompts.
- Check your starting circumstances. The game has different starting situations, including the widely discussed “Nepo” and “Lapo” experiences.
- Understand the needs meters. Hunger, energy, hygiene, bladder, fun and social interaction all affect your character.
- Find a source of virtual income. Jobs and activities are how you meet everyday costs inside the game.
- Budget for rent, food and movement. Spending everything on entertainment can leave your Sim unable to cover basic needs.
- Explore and meet other players. The city is shared, so social interaction is part of the experience rather than a side menu.
The available jobs, costs and places are updated frequently. Treat old screenshots of salaries or house prices as dated snapshots, not permanent game rules.
What are Nepo and Lapo in Lagos Life?
The game turns a familiar Nigerian conversation about class and opportunity into part of the starting experience. “Nepo” refers to the advantages associated with wealth and connections; “Lapo” reflects beginning life with limited money and borrowing pressure.
Not every player starts on equal financial footing. That matters because your early decisions may be about survival and cash flow rather than buying a car or going to a nightclub. It is an exaggerated fictional mechanic, not a commentary on any real player’s social status.
What can you do inside the virtual Lagos?
The core loop is more detailed than clicking a “work” button. You can look for employment, earn money, manage accommodation, travel across a city map and spend time with other players. Reports from Condia describe familiar places and businesses, with locations such as Shitta, Yaba, entertainment venues and transport options inspired by Lagos.
The developers have also expanded the world beyond the original Lagos setting. As reported on 6 October, Abuja and Port Harcourt were added as playable cities. That does not mean Lagos Life is the same product as independent games named AbujaLife or Abuja Life.
How do you make money in Lagos Life?
You make game money by taking jobs and participating in supported in-game activities. That money pays for virtual housing, necessities, transport, entertainment and other things in the simulated economy. It is part of the challenge: your character’s money has to stretch across competing needs.
Some players also choose to buy extra virtual currency with real money. The official terms say those purchases are optional and handled through its named payment provider. Read the on-screen terms before paying, especially the refund conditions.
Can you withdraw Lagos Life money to a Nigerian bank account?
No. This is worth stating plainly because “Lagos Life withdrawal” and “Lagos Life earn money” can be misleading searches. The official Terms of Service say that virtual naira, items, jobs and housing have no real-world cash value and cannot be cashed out, sold or transferred outside the game.
If someone offers to convert virtual naira to real naira through a payment to their bank account, that is not an official withdrawal feature. Likewise, a TikTok video showing a huge in-game balance is not proof of real earnings.
Is Lagos Life free? Does it have an Android or iPhone app?
You can begin playing free through a browser. The official game was promoted as a web game for phone and desktop, with an app-like home-screen experience available through browsers that support adding a site to the home screen.
We have not verified an official App Store or Google Play listing for the Shalom Rayhamen / Eliy game as of 9 October 2026. Don’t assume an app that shares the name is operated by the same developer. Check links published by the game’s own verified channels before installing anything.
Who made Lagos Life?
Nigerian software developer Shalom Rayhamen, named as Shalom Mathew in reporting by Condia and TechPoint, created the original game. She posts publicly as @Shalom_HeyEliy, and the official statistics page credits her.
Rayhamen has explained that childhood interest in The Sims 3 met a more recent inspiration: Lagos Run, a separate browser game where you drive a danfo through Lagos. Lagos Run was built by another Nigerian developer, Opeyemi Adeniran. The two games have separate creators and gameplay.
Why did Lagos Life go viral?
Many games already simulate working, sleeping and paying bills. What Lagos Life changed was the context. Instead of an anonymous Western suburb, players recognised danfo rides, Nigerian social references, familiar places and the humour of being broke while trying to enjoy the city.
Because the game opens in a browser, a person seeing a post on X could try it without committing to a large download. A shared multiplayer world then makes the stories players tell each other part of the game’s distribution. The joke becomes more shareable when friends are living through their own versions of it.
Condia and TechPoint reported that the initial version was made very quickly with AI-assisted development. That speed is part of the story, but the harder work is keeping a fast-growing multiplayer service stable, fair and enjoyable after the initial rush.
How does Lagos Life make money?
Its business model is not based only on paid downloads. Reporting describes in-world advertising such as virtual billboards, commercial partnerships, music promotion and optional player purchases. On 9 October, reporting also confirmed a $500,000 investment round in the company behind the project, Vatar, at a reported $10 million valuation.
Funding is not revenue, revenue is not profit, and game naira is not transferable cash. These are four different numbers that are often mixed together in social posts.
Is Lagos Life safe and legitimate?
It is an identifiable real game with a named creator, an official domain, published legal terms and independent media coverage. That establishes the existence of the game; it does not guarantee that every interaction between players is safe.
The official rules require players to be at least 18. Protect your password, avoid disclosing private contact details in chat, and do not send real-world payments to other players for virtual promises. The site’s Privacy Policy describes the information collected for accounts, game progress, chat and payments.
Lagos Life versus Danfo Run
Lagos Life is a social life simulation about managing a character in a shared city. Danfo Run, previously called Lagos Run, is an arcade driving game about transporting passengers and navigating Lagos traffic. Both are browser games; they are not two modes inside the same app.
What to watch after the hype
The important questions now are whether the servers hold up, the economy stays balanced, multiplayer behaviour is moderated and new locations provide reasons to return. Those practical improvements will tell us more about the game’s long-term success than a single screenshot of a player counter.
